Ottmar Hörl
In the summer of 2018, to mark the 550th anniversary of Schloss zu Hopferau, artist Ottmar Hörl attracted widespread attention with his installation “Wolves in the Castle.” 55 burgundy-colored wolves were placed throughout the castle park and were also available for purchase after the exhibition ended.
The installation addressed a highly topical issue—the return of the wolves—and encouraged reflection. Like no other animal, the wolf, long threatened with extinction, speaks directly to our emotions. We once shared the same habitat, resemble one another in social behavior, and therefore have a very special relationship.
The strictly limited-edition wolves have since found new owners. However, an exclusive selection of figures by Ottmar Hörl is still available for purchase at Schloss zu Hopferau.
An overview of prices and available figures can be found in our catalog.
